A COAR Company was founded January 1, 2007 by Juanita Coar.

After several years spent observing the success of small businesses with whom I worked, I decided that I, too, wanted to become an entrepreneur. I'm a research-oriented person, and in order to gain as many details as I could before starting my own venture, I gained employment with the Miami branch of the National Minority Supplier Development Council - an agency which assists minority business owners with certification and company growth. The local branch of the NMSDC provided office space for me to work within the procurement departments of a Fortune 500 retail corporation, the procurement department of a local college and the procurement department of the largest electrical company in Florida.

In addition to accomplishing my regular certification and outreach duties for the local council, I worked as a team member of both the supplier diversity staff and the procurement department of the retail corporation. I worked closely with the staff in sourcing best fit suppliers and participated during the small business and minority business owners' presentations.  I provided feedback regarding the suppliers' suitability to the procurement staff, post presentations. Working closely with all parties, I was in an ideal position to comprehend the core challenges and needs faced by both the procurement staff and the small and minority business owners.

The key tasks of communicating my findings with the supplier diversity department, the procurement staff and suppliers, as well as addressing issues that needed discussion, evolved into the passion I possess today in working in the areas of supplier relationship management, supplier risk mitigation, and collaboration with stakeholders within the supply chain.
